How to always stay connected at Zaporozhye?

Connectivity is very important wherever you are in the world to always be updated about what you are concerned. At Zaporozhye there are lots of options by both hard-wire and wireless standards at affordable prices.

ADSL Standard Network
Hard-wire: Large part of the broadband consumers in Zaporozhye are connected by hard-wire. ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) and FTTB (Fiber To The Building) are the two methods used. In the ADSL standard maximum download speed the end user can obtain is limited to 24 Mbit/s with maximum upload speed of 3.3 Mbit/s. Where as in the FTTB scenario both the download and upload speed have a speed of 100 Mbit/s and above, a lot of ISP's provide only 100 Mbit/s only as the highest offering since most of the computers used by the consumers are not capable of handling above that kind of speed today.

ADSL is offered by Ukrtelecom, Beeline, DomTele
FTTB is offered by Kyivstar, Beeline, DomTele, ExpressNet

Our recommendation for power users would be to choose Kyivstar, for the lower end users Ukrtelecom would do more than what is required and for the intermediate one's ExpressNet suits their needs best.

Wireless: Coming to the fastest evolving and ever changing wireless standard. GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) is the most dominant technology, CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is as well prevalent. 3G technology which offers high speed data and voice by GSM wireless standard with speeds from 3.6 Mbit/s to 28 Mbit/s depending on the grade of technology used be the service provider, isn't fully operational by all the operators, only the state telecom Ukrtelecom operates a brand UTel which is the only offering for 3G Services presently. EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) is a pre-3G technology and is available throughout Ukraine with 100% coverage by all the GSM operators, one can experience maximum speed of 470 Kbit/s theoretically, where as the real world speed at Zaporozhye by average is at 270-350 Kbit/s which we say would be fine enough for regular chat, email and casual browsing, leaving aside video streaming and other bandwidth intensive programs. EVDO (Evolution-Data Optimized) is identical to the 3G standard of GSM, maximum speed on this technology is 3.6 Mbit/s.

GSM/EDGE is offered by Ukrtelecom, Kyivstar, Life:), MTS
3G is offer by state telecom Ukrtelecom with the brand name UTel, which also offers stand alone Modem's for Data only services.

CDMA/EVDO is offered by PeopleNet and MTS. MTS offers only Data services with the EVDO technology with stand alone Modem's where as PeopleNet has both Data and Voice offerings with stand alone Data plans too.

Our recommendation for power users would be to chose UTel which is because its the only operator offering 3G. For the lower end users PeopleNet is the one to choose, its not only the single CDMA/EVDO operator offering both Data and Voice but the best in class Mobile devices with the Subscription plan at affordable prices. For the intermediate users Life:) is the ultimate one to choose which always stays competitive with its innovative offerings and best in class coverage with affordable EDGE Data Plans to choose from.

Wi-Fi or Wireless Fidelity is the Wireless Technology operating on 2.4Ghz frequency. Lots of devices these days have Wi-Fi chips built into them like the Mobile phones, PDA's, Laptops, Tablets, even desktop computers can be enabled to use Wi-Fi without the hassle of running a wire throughout the premises by adding an Wi-Fi adapter which usually use the USB port or an internal PCI slot to function. One can purchase a Wi-Fi router to be used with a functioning hard-wire broadband connection as well as a wireless one too. For us here in Zaporozhye Wi-Fi combined with a hard-wire connection is the best option, because though there are 3G Wi-Fi Routers available, its hard to find one at Zaporozhye. Setting up a router can be learnt from here How to setup a wireless network?
